{Life} Bitterness.

Written By: Kerrington Sweeney

Grudges, hurts, past relationships, un-forgiveness, and rude words maybe currently filling up your ‘spiritual life back-pack.’

This maybe even starting to be putting a strain on your relationship with God, with your family and even your friends…

It says in Proverbs 10:12-13,

“Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offences. On the lips of Him who has understanding wisdom is to be found but, a rod is for the back of him who lacks common sense.”

Bitterness, rips all wisdom from underneath you. Bitterness, starts to ‘eat’ away at your life…one grudge at a time. The Lord today is challenging us to forgive and let go of all the bitterness and leave it at the foot of the cross.

We are to Love everyone (even our enemies) with an everlasting supply of unconditional love. Just like Christ loves us. We are to be wise in all situations where the feelings of bitterness may arise.

I leave you with a quote to ponder…

“The one who is wise seeks the good of others even hen she is the offended party.” -Author Unknown

So ladies, I can talk to you about letting go and moving on all day long…but if won’t even make a slight difference. You are in control of you. I challenge you, leave it all at the foot of the cross and begin to learn, to love with an everlasting supply of Christ’s Love!

Until Next Time,

{Life} Revival.

water-bucket

One sunny summer family afternoon after church a certain sunday, was spent at the local “splash pad.” As my parents, my sister and I watched our littlest sister splash around and create memories that day. I could see an attraction many children we’re instantly drawn to out of all the water works at the pad.

This was…the BIG bucket. The center of attention.

The big bucket would begin slowly filling up and just as it was ready to tip out galloons of water, the kiddos would all run straight towards it…Watching their faces grow, waiting in great anticipation was quite the sight to see.

Few more minutes past by, and it was literally almost spilling over the edges…The kids eyes glued and securely focused on this bucket ready to soak them. As it was almost time to dump…Holy Spirit nudged me to take notice of the kiddos waiting… Some of them were up as close as they could get, hands stretched out as high as they possibly could…While others, were more timid and shy about this, they stood father back, hands to themselves. There was still great anticipation in their little eyes but, it was almost mixed with a bit of fear.

Readers, I use this illustration because of how real this in our churches today…The “Revival Bucket” filling up more and more getting ready to sweep through a nation. Some people, so ready to partake of this exciting process…right up at the front, hands stretched out high, faces locked in a position with the Heavenly Father. While others, yes still excited to be apart of the process but, they stand a little farther back, more kept to themselves.

How real this truly is. To be honest and quite frank with you, I am hot with a fear of what the future ‘church life’ will look like, when “revival” does hit. Will I be ready? What is this going to look like? These are the thoughts I sometimes pondered till the Lord brought me a brand new realization.

God reminded me, that He NEVER gives us anything we can’t handle. His grace and mercy is always there never ending. Revival is not something to be feared but, rather anticipated with great excitement. For in revival, signs, wonders, and miracles take place.

So today, dear readers, I challenge you…To no fear revival comings but, to rather embrace them with everything you’ve got.

Until next time,

{Life} Against the trend.

kerrington bible shot stree view TLC

Today, we are going to be discussing a young woman who was recorded in three books of the Bible – Matthew, Mark, and Luke. She was considered to be that woman in her village. She suffered with a blood disease for 12 years, even at her young age. This blood disease deemed her legally an ‘unclean’ person amongst the villagers.
She was a weak mess in the eyes of society then. She was a worthless nothing. She was fading away more and more each passing day, growing weaker and weaker. She was recorded in the Bible, as a nameless and anonymous woman. Now she is typically known as, the woman with the issue of blood.

I believe her story, is one that has wisdom just oozing from it.
It says in Matthew 9:20-22

“Behold a woman who had been suffering from a discharge of blood for 12 years straight. She came up behind Him (Jesus) and touched only the fringe of his garment, for she said to herself… ‘If I only touch His garment, I will be made well.’ Jesus turned, and seeing her, He said: “Take heart daughter; Your faith has made you well.”

Instantly she was made whole and was completely healed. Her body, in an instant was fully restored. The strength she had not felt in 12 years was renewed within her.
The reason I chose this portion of Scripture to share with you is because I believe with all my heart that we need to become more like this woman in our culture today.
This Faith-Filled Woman was willing to do something that could have easily gotten her thrown out of the village for good. She was willing to be stoned. She was willing to push through the crowds with the little strength and endurance that was left within her. She was willing to go ‘against the trend’ of society to simply touch the hem of her Savior’s garment. She was and still is that woman!
Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for this woman-example that we can look to and find strength to go against the trend. Thank you Jesus for being so intimate and so simple that you would notice just that woman’s weak tug of your garment. Today, we choose to never be so caught up in the things of today. We choose to meet with you as our Savior. Our all in all. Our ultimate Healer! In Your precious name, Jesus! Amen!!
Let’s not ever be so caught up in the culture and traditions of today that we are held back from the mighty power of God. If it means we have to go against the trend to meet with our Savior… then so be it!

Until Next Time,

{Life} One small step.

Written By: Joceline Sweeney

Dedicated To: Evelyne Brochu

Do you ever struggle with purpose? Does my life really matter? What difference am I really making in this world? Do my daily decision make any impact on my future? My destiny? What about my children’s destiny or even possibly my grandchildren’s destiny? Surely what I do today won’t affect anyone that far into the future. Choices I make now? Today? Really?

I’m here to share with you a little story.

A revelation was made on this very subject this week in my living room. My mom was simply pondering about her input into my daughters’ lives, what had she done to contribute to whom they had become? Had any of the life choices she made, had an impact on her children’s destinies or even her grandchildren’s’ destinies?

One small step was really all it was.

One small step…Out the front door to go to a Bible study, when a friend invited her, when she could of stayed home to catch up on things, she was a busy mom of three.

One small step…Picking up and reading her Bible and realizing she was a sinner, stealing time away from her pile of chores.

One small step…Kneeling to pray and confessing her sins and becoming one of God’s children, where she could have reasoned and said “we’ll I’m a mom I’m really not that bad!”

One small step…Taking her family to church, showing them how to become part of God’s family, adding to her already large work load, preparing three children to head out the door early Sunday morning when it was probably her only day to “sleep in.”

With one small step My Mom changed the entire course of our family’s destiny. Our entire family found Jesus because of her and her willingness to seek and find. To take one small step. I can say she is the reason I still have my dad around. She prayed us all into the kingdom.

Because of her small step…I am saved, and a part of God’s family. I have a home in eternity. Because of her small step I grew up in church my whole life, being protected from many mistakes that could have drastically changed my life.

Because of her small step I had the privilege of going to a Christian school, where I eventually met my Godly husband, (we celebrate 20 years this coming December!) My Christian education rooted me daily into God’s word and from that was born my passion to homeschool our three girls. Because of her small step we have raised our girls in the church and protected them from life altering decisions.

Because of her small step her granddaughter, my daughter is the founder of this website, which daily brings you encouragement, strong conviction and powerful messages.

One small step…You have purpose. Your life really matters. You are making a difference in this world. Your daily decision will affect your future, your destiny and that of your children and grandchildren. One small step will affect those in your future. The choices you make now, today, forever, all begin with one small step.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed…” ~Proverbs 31:28

{Life} Hell.

Written By: Kerrington Sweeney

Today, the Lord has dropped something heavily upon my heart. I felt as if I was commissioned by the Holy Spirit to share this. I will be as real as I possibly can; as much as I know how to. I was sitting in my quiet time with God, and I read a verse in Matthew 25:46. It reads…

“And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

How real and true this is, readers! People every day are running straight towards that eternal punishment. Falling face first into an eternal fiery pit. called Hell. Hell is just as real as Heaven. We don’t often hear about Hell in the church as much as we hear about our happily ever after of eternal Life. But I am here to share with you that it is very real. Hell is a place. A place where many of my friends and even some family members are headed right now.

Wherever you are today, sitting and reading this, you have a particular destination over your life. Whether it be an eternal home of safety or a fiery place you’ve feared all your life.

Not to be morbid, but know that you are one simple breath away from eternity. Where are you headed after that breath? Do you know? As followers of Christ, we need to realize this.

We are ALL born sinners. We are born into this world separated from God. Because our God judges justly, He sees the rich and the poor all on the same level. We are all sinners, whether we have millions of dollars in the bank or whether we are eating at the soup kitchen and living on park benches. Think of it this way: one day, we will all bow down before the same foot of the cross.

Leveled together, as sinners. God sees us, His children. With all the bondages, sins, mistakes, and troubles, He knew for a fact that we wouldn’t be strong enough on our own to pay our own wages. He knew how horrible it would be for you to spend eternity in Hell. He didn’t want that for His children. So He willingly sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ – the Hope of the world.

Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life here on the earth. At age 33, Jesus was taken and held hostage. He was taken on a horrible quest through the night, where He was beaten, bruised, and spit on by the people. He was called all sorts of terrible names, and He did absolutely nothing to stop it. He was willing to endure this.

The next day, Jesus stood before Pilate. Pilate made the harsh decision to hand Him off to the Romans. As if He was a filthy piece of trash. Unwanted. Unworthy. Uncalled for. But yet, Jesus did nothing to stop it. The Romans whipped Him, beat Him, bruised Him. They ripped apart His body but Jesus did nothing to stop it. They destroyed Him to the very core, yet Jesus did nothing to stop it. He was willing.

They walked with Him to His final breath. They made His weak raggedy body carry that heavy wooden cross up the steep slopes of the mountain called Golgotha. Jesus went willingly. He hung on that cross, bloody and destroyed. As He hung there, He did nothing to stop them. Instead He thought of YOU!

He thought that if He didn’t pay this high price, how you would then have to pay it. You would be headed straight into that eternal punishment. You would have to work your own way, to pay the wages of all your sins.

What Jesus did as He willingly hung on that cross was to pray for the people that put Him there. He thought of you. He knew you already, specifically by name. He loved you then and He loves you now. His love has never stopped and it never will stop. His love never fails.

Jesus conquered death, three days after dying as He rose again. He made Heaven an open place for God’s righteous children. The Heavenly gates were opened, for anyone who would call upon the name of the Lord. We will ALL stand before Jesus one day.

It says in Revelation 20:11-21:7

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.”

It’s on my heart today to say this – you don’t have to go to Hell just because you are a sinner. You are given the free gift of Heaven, an eternal home of safety. You are the only one who can make this choice for yourself.

With all of this being said, let me ask you this question once more…

“Where are you headed?”

If this post intrigued you, we would love to pray with you and chat with you. Today is a great day to become a part of God’s family. Today is a great day to have YOUR name written in the Book of Life. Today is a day that could change your life. It’s simply your choice.

{Life} The struggle of saying “No!”

Written By: Kerrington Sweeney

Recently, I was asked to take another project on. The project was so very wonderful and I would have loved to have been apart of it…but the timing was just not right and I felt that it wasn’t what God, was calling me into at that season in my life.

The struggle and harsh battle that went on in my mind to say “No” to being apart of that project was a tough one. After awhile, of contemplating different ways to say no…I just flat out and told them I was unable to be apart of the project. Saying No, was a very difficult step for me.

A guilt overcame my heart for awhile that I wasn’t being apart of it…God stopped me in my tracks one day while I was still carrying the guilt and popped a thought into mind:

“If I was to sacrifice my own time for this project, when would I have my own time to read and mediate on God’s word? When would I be able to dig deep into the Word. When would I be able to simply listen and wait on the Holy Spirit? When would I have a chance to stop everything and simply pray?”

These were some, of the many thoughts deeply pressing in my mind. Truly, God has placed this on my heart to share and that is this…

Just because the project or opportunity is so amazing and it will do great things for the continued expansion of God’s Kingdom, doesn’t always mean it’s yours to take on. We each are called with a certain Life Ministry. Some busier, than others.

The next project you are asked to be apart of…step back and think twice about where your priorities are. I challenge you to take time, and pray deeply about these projects, before accepting the opportunities.

It takes a bit of courage and strength to say “No” to projects…but sometimes it’s God’s best for you to simply say “No.”

Thanks for joining me today! I hope you enjoyed and were encouraged! Bless you!

Until Next Time,

~Kerrington

{Life} Life is a Journey.

Written by: Taylor Horner

Life is a journeyLife can get very hectic. I am in a stage of my life where going to graduate school, looking for a home, getting married, working two jobs, and becoming a new auntie are all happening at the same time. Though these are all positive things, the amount of attention and time needed for all of these aspects of life can lead to me forgetting to take time out for myself and care for my own, personal needs.

I am the type of person that seriously enjoys a busy schedule, but I am reminded constantly that God has to fit into our busy schedule. He has blessed us with the life we have and we need to make sure to take time and thank him for that. It is so important to take care of your own personal needs, and that includes taking time out for devotionals.

God has one of the busiest schedules we can imagine; yet He always finds time to listen to our needs and watch over us- to the point where he knows everything about us. The least we can do is give back to Him by giving up our time to be in the Word of God and grow in Him.

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

God truly wants to spend time with you, and there is so much you get out of spending time with God! We grow in knowledge and understanding as we walk through the trials of life. When life gets busy our stress level can rise! That seems like a perfect time to indulge in God’s word and immerse yourself in His joy that cannot be shaken through life circumstances.

I have set a time to do my devotionals that is most helpful with my schedule for the day. Every night I spend time before bed in God’s word and praying, this has made all the difference for me, by scheduling time with God I never miss out on an opportunity to grow in His word and work on my own self.

I encourage all you beautiful ladies to schedule a time that works best for you to spend time with God everyday. You never have to worry; God will always be waiting for you- no matter the time in the day!

Until Next Time,

~Taylor
