{Faith} Faithful Friendships.

Written by: Taylor Horner

Having a faithful friend is such a great asset! I would say you are truly blessed if you have friendships in your life where you know your friend will always be faithful to you. This can include keeping things private in your life that you wish to be private, being dependable in your times of need, and always taking time out to see how your week is going.

As we get older, sometimes we lose friendships due to different circumstances; things like moving away, having different interests, or being involved in different friendship networks. This might mean that we may have a small number of faithful friendships in our lives. Never discount that as a bad thing – having one faithful friend is better than having many friends that are not looking out for your best interest.

In our world, we as human beings can be very selfish. Some people become friends with others because of the status it gives them. The popularity, maybe the money, or even some other way that they can gain something for themselves. These “friends” are the type of people that we need to avoid being.

As Christians, we are called to love one another. There are no exceptions to this rule. We are called to love ALL. It can be easy to get caught up sometimes in wanting to be friends with everyone because of the popularity or the events you will be invited to. We become focused on those things instead of being focused on being a faithful and loving friend.

I have one beautiful friend in my life that also happens to be my maid of honour. This girl is one of the most faithful people I know. I can count on her through times of trouble and triumph and she is always willing to support me. I honestly do not know what I would do without her continued support in my life. God has absolutely blessed me with having her as my best friend. She also has an incredible boyfriend who my fiancé has gotten close with, which has become a blessing for both of us. I do my best to be just as faithful to her as she is to me, because that is what everyone deserves. We should attempt to live out lives of faithfulness to others, just like God is faithful to us. We can be such a blessing to others when we continue to show love, compassion, and care to those who are around us.

Sometimes it can be difficult to keep up with being faithful in friendship to others because it is a big commitment, and we can get caught up in our own lives. BUT it is important for us to remember that God loves a faithful heart and humans do too. I challenge everyone reading this to show faithfulness to someone in their lives today. Whether that be a text to see how they are doing, or getting coffee with a friend in need – just show you care. Be a person that can say you live out faithful friendships!

Luke 6:31 “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”

{Worth} Am I worthy?!

Written By: Taylor Horner

Worth taylor august

This year has been one incredible year for me. I have managed to get engaged, graduate with my bachelor’s at a university, become an auntie, I am in the process of getting married, we are settling into our first home, and I was accepted into my Masters program at the university! After all these successes I cannot help but think- am I worthy of all these blessings? It is so strange how some years in our life can be filled with blessings, and others can be filled of heartbreak.

Our blessings and our heartbreaks are not based on whether God deemed us worthy to have an awesome year or not. Our God loves to bless us, but He also has to challenge us to grow in our relationship with Him, this can lead to us going through some situations that cause sadness, but bring knowledge.

So let me just say this first. YES, you are worthy of being blessed because God loves to bless us. This does not mean that you deserve every hardship you come across; we all go through rough times. Some rough times we bring on by our own actions, others happen for reasons of growth in our faith in God, but these hardships do not decrease your worth.

When you are blessed rejoice, and when you go through hardship- continue to rejoice, just like Job in the Bible. Your worth should not decrease because you have had a bad day, bad week, bad month, or a bad year. There are plenty of people who see you as very worthy of their love, attention, and joy. God sees you worthy enough that He let His son die for you, even though none of us deserved it. How incredible!

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.”

Remember today, no matter your past, present, or future. There is a God you can lean on. You deserve blessings, you deserve love, and you deserve to grow in your relationship with God. You deserve all these things because you are worthy.

Until Next Time,

~Taylor

{Life} Life is a Journey.

Written by: Taylor Horner

Life is a journeyLife can get very hectic. I am in a stage of my life where going to graduate school, looking for a home, getting married, working two jobs, and becoming a new auntie are all happening at the same time. Though these are all positive things, the amount of attention and time needed for all of these aspects of life can lead to me forgetting to take time out for myself and care for my own, personal needs.

I am the type of person that seriously enjoys a busy schedule, but I am reminded constantly that God has to fit into our busy schedule. He has blessed us with the life we have and we need to make sure to take time and thank him for that. It is so important to take care of your own personal needs, and that includes taking time out for devotionals.

God has one of the busiest schedules we can imagine; yet He always finds time to listen to our needs and watch over us- to the point where he knows everything about us. The least we can do is give back to Him by giving up our time to be in the Word of God and grow in Him.

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

God truly wants to spend time with you, and there is so much you get out of spending time with God! We grow in knowledge and understanding as we walk through the trials of life. When life gets busy our stress level can rise! That seems like a perfect time to indulge in God’s word and immerse yourself in His joy that cannot be shaken through life circumstances.

I have set a time to do my devotionals that is most helpful with my schedule for the day. Every night I spend time before bed in God’s word and praying, this has made all the difference for me, by scheduling time with God I never miss out on an opportunity to grow in His word and work on my own self.

I encourage all you beautiful ladies to schedule a time that works best for you to spend time with God everyday. You never have to worry; God will always be waiting for you- no matter the time in the day!

Until Next Time,

~Taylor

{Faith} Faith, that can move mountains.

Written by: Taylor Horner

IMG_3964

“Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.” Mark 11:23

We have all heard this scripture verse and sang songs about faith that can move mountains. What an incredible concept to think about. Mountains are so mighty, yet God is mightier. God can move mountains- the physical ones on Earth and the mountains we have in our life, whether that be a mountain of guilt, stress, pain, health or debt. Though it may be hard to believe that through prayer God can help us move these mountains, he can and this is where faith comes into play.

Faith is believing in the things we cannot yet see, and trusting in God to be there for you. My parents are the ones who truly introduced what having faith in God is. My brother was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (a lung disease) from a very young age. My parent’s did not get the opportunity to hold their son when he was first born, but instead could hold his hand through an incubator. I could only imagine being put into their shoes at a young age and not being able to hold my first child.

It took years for the doctors to figure out that my brother had Cystic Fibrosis, so my parents were always struggling with attempting to figure out what was wrong with this baby’s health.

Now my brother is in his late twenties, and though he has his moments where health can be a struggle, God has blessed my family with a pretty healthy guy. As parents I could only imagine the struggle of having a child born with a disease, my parents always walked in faith, trusting that God would keep their child safe and that there was a plan for him.

My brother is a reminder for me everyday about faith- God came through for our family in a huge way. Though we have to work through the fact that someone we love has a disease. Our constant prayer of good health over my brother has been continually answered, as he is a very healthy person for having Cystic Fibrosis, and that is quite the blessing.

Though there will be times of struggle, we know God has been faithful to us, and we will continue to be faithful to Him. Thanks to sin, things like disease exist in this world but our God can heal, and this is something I pray for every day.

Continue to pray for God to move your mountain, whatever that mountain may be. God will be faithful to you, as you continue to be faithful to Him. There is a reason for your struggle; God will show that to you. Until then, I pray for those reading this that they can find faith in God and be empowered to move their mountain!

Until Next Time,

~Taylor

{Beauty} What is Beauty?

Written by: Taylor Horner

We all have our own definition of what beauty is.  We all have our own likes and dislikes and we all have different ways of judging what beauty consists of, whether it would be outward or inward beauty. I remember scrolling through Facebook one day when I came across this shared post that a younger woman I know added to her page. What I read absolutely broke my heart. In the post it said “Share this if a boy has ever called you ugly.” It is so sad to see the effect that such harsh words can have on someone. Though we all go through many changes of what we look like and who we are, I want to remind all of you that you ARE beautiful. It doesn’t matter what some guy says in class or what one girl says to one of her friends. Nothing can take away the beauty that God has put in your life.

God made you through His own image, he sees you as perfect and he will put people in your life that will see you as beautiful as well. Do not listen to those who speak words that are not filled with the love. We need to be around and influenced by people who build us up instead of tear us down.

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” 1 Peter 3:3-4

Though dressing up and feeling pretty is wonderful, it is important to remember that the beauty and warmth you give off to others in your personality is more important then how you look. Looks do not last, but the memories people have of you and how you affected them do. Attempt to be beautiful on the inside, as negative words can have an awful impact on someone’s life.

We have to learn to love ourselves, inside and out before we can show love for others. As how can we show love, if we cannot accept it? I want to remind you today if you haven’t been told: you are beautiful, you are kind, you are strong, creative, dependable, and you are loved by one amazing God who thinks you are beautiful inside and out.

“The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Attempt today to look at the heart of people instead of the outward appearance. Make your heart the most beautiful thing you have today.

Until Next Time,

~Taylor

{Worth} You are ALL Worthy!

Written by: Taylor Horner

Today, I want to encourage and remind all of you beautiful women that you are worthy to be loved, to feel beautiful, to have great friends, to be apart of fun opportunities, and you are most importantly made worthy through God’s forgiveness to go to Heaven!

Many of us have days were we get down on ourselves because of possibly something negative we did or just because our self esteem is very low that day.  I want to remind you all that we make mistakes! We are only human, so we make bad decisions sometimes that we can learn from so that we do not make those impulses again. Just because we make mistakes doesn’t mean we can’t ask for forgiveness. You can! Through the grace of God you can be forgiven and God forgets that your sin even happened!

Wouldn’t it be lovely if our families and friends could forget our mistakes once we ask for forgiveness? I want to encourage you all to not feel disappointed if someone chooses to not forgive or holds a grudge against you. Take the opportunity to attempt to make things right, but if you have done all you can and this person won’t forgive you it is time for you to forgive yourself! Forgiving yourself is very important so that you feel worthy of God’s love and others love around you! Sometimes we loose relationships because of things we have done, but I want to remind you that we are not perfect! Do not stress yourself out to be perfect; God does not expect perfection from us! It is okay to make mistakes, as long as we learn from them and choose not to do them again!

Ephesians 4:26 “In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.”

Girls can get the reputation of being very judgmental of each other, but it is up to us to break this cycle. All of us girls are worthy and deserving to be treated fairly. We are called to love others just as God loves us, and this includes loving yourself. No matter what others say, God says you have massive worth! God loves you and has an AMAZING plan for your life. Never forget your worth and the worth of others around you. Build each other up, don’t tear each other down! You all are worthy!

Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

Remember this verse as you go through your week: We are called to love, not judge and this includes loving ourselves! Be aware of your worth!

Until Next Time,

~Taylor

{Love} Searching for Love.

Written By: Taylor Horner

It seems like everyone is always searching for love. Love is something that most of us hope to find someday and we usually prefer the sooner the better! As we grow older and those around us start dating and “falling in love,” it can be easy for us to get caught up in the moment and be in a hurry to find someone as well. Sometimes being without a significant other while those around us have someone they love can make us feel insecure and left out. I want to remind all you beautiful ladies that the right person is WORTH THE WAIT.

IMG_3962

God has someone planned for you that surpasses what you can imagine, and that person is worth waiting for! When we go for people who may not be who God has in mind it usually leads to heartbreak. When we get anxious to find someone to date, we tend to settle and compromise with what we want in a partner. God does not want you to settle or compromise. God has someone who is a perfect match for you; someone who fits into the plan of your life and someone who can help your walk with God become stronger. When we start searching for love instead of praying for the right person to come around we will be missing out in the wonderful plan God has for our lives. It is so important to pray to God to help prepare you for your spouse. While you are in this time of waiting for “the one” it is a perfect opportunity to work on strengthening your relationship with God and also better understanding yourself as a person- what your needs, wants, and goals are for the future. This can help you decipher what type of person would work in your life and what type you should walk away from.

I have been engaged for almost a year now and I am so happy that I did not settle in my relationship. My fiancé is someone who I know God planned specifically for me. We both have similar goals in life and this man treats me like absolute gold. He helps me strengthen my walk with God daily. EVERY single woman deserves someone that treats her like gold, just like how God treats us.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

God loves us so much he has a plan made especially for us, and that includes that perfect mate! Searching for love can lead to us settling, but praying and waiting patiently for who God has planned for you will bring you to your happily ever after. Be patient woman of God; know that good things come to those who wait!

Until Next Time,

~Taylor
